Brand Tagline: Bad throat? Try Strepsils!
Right after his first ad film, The concept of his second ad film was made for strepsils, The lion’s motion logo from lionsgate film was used here to show that the lion cannot roar because of a bad throat, in comes another characted who informs the lion to try strepsils and hence the solution to the lion’s cough is strepsils. It’s hilarious because instead of roaring the
lion ends up making domestic cats “meow”. this ad was the begining of prahlad and strepsils both. Prahlad sir went on to become the advertising guru of india with this concept and also founded genesis production house which is at the roots of indian advertising scenes. His simple techniques informed and entertained many through the years starting from the 80’s era.
Strepsils also used the concept to shoot a straight arrow to find their customers. They evolved from using lions gate to using many other types of characters to show how a khich khich can make one person the butt of a joke. This ad had many taglines but it was always similar to this “bad throat? try strepsils” the artform included pencil drawing, live-action and they also used popular references like the lion’s logo to inform their customer. This ad goes on to show that a good tagline or a good concept always goes a long way.
